First, thanks to all who responded and continue to respond concerning
combining school and public libraries. I'm well armed with your experience
and expertise.
I need your help on another issue. We are looking at funding levels for
elementary school libraries and though I am coming up with general figures
and averages, I would really like to present actual numbers from actual
schools -- lots and lots of numbers! If those of you who are in a elementary
school could just send some basic info - size of school, grades included,
and funding per students for library materials, it would be incredible. My
school has 600 students, K - 5, and we are funded at approx. $9.50 per
student each year. Though I'm new to the field (a mid-life changeover!)
this just seems incredibly low to me. I've been shown some average figures
that don't make it look so bad, but I'd love to hear from you. Many
thanks!
