TARGET: DOG NAMES IN LITERATURE

Greetings, oh exhausted ones
(how many days until vacation??)

Hope you can help me with a somewhat odd (and minimally library-related)
request - a teacher is getting a new dog (Burmese Mountain Dog) and wants to
name it after a
dog in literature.  I'm so fried at this point all I can think of are the
really obvious names and "Subject" B.I.P. (as a source).

Any suggestions?? Many thanks!
