Hi Velda-- I'm sure you've received 18 responses on this already, but the title is (and I didn't hear the NPR story, but I read the book & loved it) is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling, published by Scholastic in 1998. The sequel is out in England, so maybe we'll have it here by next year. I'm putting it in my new Instructor magazine "Book Talk" column for March, which I am working on right now. If it was a U.S. title, it would be a Newbery contender for sure. Have a great weekend.
