Thank you very much to all of you who replied so promptly! My question was whether it would be copyright infringement if members of a local club bought books and then did audio recordings of them to help ESL students learn English. The majority of the responses indicated that this would be a violation of copyright. It is not OK to make a complete copy of anything; just as it would be incorrect to photocopy an entire book, it would also not be OK to make a "phonocopy" of an entire book. Many suggested that the club members simply buy audiorecordings or that they get the permission of the publisher first. I really appreciate your help!
