Internship Description

The Philadelphia Education Fund (PEF) is seeking a graduate intern to work
closely with the Director of Teaching and Learning and with the Librarian
on Special Assignment in the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) to
support the growth of the Library Power Network and the Library Power
Model throughout  the School District of Philadelphia.  Library Power is a
whole-school reform model that positions school libraries and librarians at
the center of standards-driven curriculum efforts and staff professional
development.

Description of Responsibilities
attend regular meetings of the Library Power Network;

attend monthly professional development sessions coordinated by the
Librarian on Special Assignment (LSA);

participate in planning meetings with the LSA and PEFs Director of
Teaching and Learning (DTL);

develop materials for professional development and for communicating the
Library Power vision, under the guidance of the LSA and DTL;

plan and implement logistics for meetings and conferences, under the
guidance of the LSA and DTL.

Terms of the Internship
The position is a 15 hour per week commitment.  Hours will be variable.
The internship begins January 2, 1999 and ends December 1999.  Occasional
evening and Saturday work may be required.  Compensation is $12.50 per
hour.
