Pinching on St. Patrick's Day

I grew up outside of NYC and I have never heard of this tradition . I
now live in Connecticut and they don't do it here either. Perhaps it is
not a tradition in the Northeast. I would also like to agree with the
person that says this is  not the nicest thing to do.  It seemed a
little cruel to me too.
