Growing up on Maui, we had the same tradition...about pinching someone twice if we
could show them that we were wearing something green...

I'm still waiting for someone to come up with the reason for such a tradition ...
something to do with leprechauns perhaps?

And this thread is really beginning to worry me ... we may have found something to
which the collective endeavors and experiences of 8000+ librarians cannot find an
answer ... what is this world coming to?

I have read with interest the thread of pinching on St Pat's day. In Wyoming

where I grew up it was definitely a tradition. However, we also had a

tradition that said if you pinched someone for not wearing green and they

proved that they WERE wearing green they could pinch you twice. We used to hide

our green under a shirt or something.

I suppose that it is something that will have to go by the wayside, however.
