Greetings. My VERY small elementary library has finally gotten the OK to get an electronic circulation system. There are fewer than 500 students in the district with about 300 at the single elementary school (K-5). The library is small and until I was hired last Aug they had been without a librarian for 13 + years. (I'm half-time there, half at MS/HS). The card catalog was a mess and now is just barely useful. Books weeded and cards not pulled, new books processed and cards stuck in boxes-cupboards-drawers-?, inadequate check-out system, etc. Now to my request. I have been told I can spend up to about $1500 to get a circulation system going on a Win 95 platform. That effectively rules out the Cadilacs (Caspr, etc), and I don't want an old Vega, so I'm looking for suggestions. Thus far I have been looking at LiBRARYSOFT. Their ad looks good, the price is within my budget, but I don't have any info from users. Does anyone out there actually have this program? Is is worth the time/money to install and run it? Are there major problems or drawbacks in using it in a small district? What other programs are people using that can be recommended? Is there anything I that will do the job for me and still fit my $$$$ limit? Or should I simply forget it and continue trying to salvage the system (what system?) left to me by someone long ago? :-( Thanks for any help. I was using an HP printer and the program didn't like it! Once I switched printers, everythings been fine. Thanks for all who responded, this group is great!
