I tried to send this earlier today (my very first try to submit
anything), but it was bounced back.  Maybe this time it will work.

As I recall it, the poem went like this

    I never saw a purple cow;
    I never hope to see one.
    But I can tell you this right now,
    I'd rather see than be one!
