TARGET>Wish List for New Middle School Media Center

Hello, everybody!
I hope you can help.  Our school system is going to build a new middle school,
scheduled to open in 2-3 years.  They are putting together the new building
specs even as we speak.  I've been asked for input on the new library media
center.  I've already given my 2 cents worth, using the guidellines in
_Information Power_ as a basis, but my principal still wants more input, more
data, etc.  So I'm asking everyone on LM_NET for their wishes, too.  If you
were going to design a new LMC, what would you want in it?

The projected enrollment is @ 1,000 students in grades 6-8; the space is 8,800
square feet, with a 1,200 computer lab adjacent to it.  How many linear feet
of shelving would you ask for ? How many OPAC stations? How many CD-ROM
stations, Internet connections , etc.? How about video equipment for editing
and production? Anything else?

Also, if you know of any recent publications or periodical articles about new
library design, please let me know.

I'll post a hit if anyone requests it.
