GEN: SUNLINK News

To all Florida SUNLINK schools and others interested in SUNLINK:

As you probably know, the SUNLINK database, funded by the Florida
Department of Education as a resource sharing tool, has been updated
annually with the pressing of a new CD each fall. But the availability
of SUNLINK on the World Wide Web has provided us with some new
opportunities.

As of February 16, 1998, the SUNLINK database on the World Wide Web has
been updated to include 41 new school collections and 46 new AV
collections. This makes the records for 363,384 new holdings and 9,197
new titles available and brings the total size of the database to
11,232,808 holdings and 977,657 titles.

In addition, a new field called "publication date" has been added.
This will allow you and your students to search for items published
within a certain date range, before a certain date, or after a certain
date. This should help with finding the most current materials as well
as in weeding and collection development.
