Hi,
I am a new librarian in our small school district. I have access to one
computer linked to the Internet with a big screen TV for easier viewing
for groups. So far I have been trading skills between Internet and
library skills and spending some of my class time trying to find out
what the students know about alphabetizing, card catalogue, etc. Before
Christmas break we were working on e-mailing penpals. It was very
exciting to get responses. We are also involved with 100-day mailing
from December - February in celebration of 100th day of school.

I am not a full-time librarian but I am over 1/2 time. I am responsible
for skills for K-8th grade in the short time I am there, as well as
taking care of the library responsibilities. I would like to know if
there are any ideas to help me to make the best of my "hands on"
teaching time with the students. Any ideas for using the Internet, for
teaching library skills with limited time, etc. I have a few lesson
plan ideas but would appreciate more if anyone has any other ideas for
me. I would appreciate any ideas I can get. Thanks.

I have enjoyed the listserv and find it quite enlightening.
