Teresa, I've found that the shareware mIRC doesn't automatically call up the dialer if you're not connected. The 'unable to resolve local host' means that the program can't find an Internet address for you. Connect to the Internet first, then start mIRC. As to versions, use the 32 bit version if you have win95 and the 16 bit version if you're running win3.1x. Good luck, Dan Robinson Indexing Services H.W.
