ELEM: Need early literacy software

Please help!!  I am in a 9-12 high school but am trying to impress the "head
honcho;"  I'm the only one with access to you guys but  I'm out of my league
in the elementary field.   Our district recently received a Learning
Technology Grant and will be purchasing new computers for all our K and 1
classrooms.  They are looking for program suggestions as to what they should
purchase for "early literacy."  Naturally, they want the biggest bang for
the buck.  The software can either load onto the hard drive, be a CD or some
combination.  I assured them that there were many of you out there who could
