MID:novel on immigrants

Greetings. A 5th grade teacher here is looking for a novel to read with her
social studies classes concerning the experience of a 20th century
immigrant living in America (preferably a young adult immigrant). She's
especially interested in a story that deals with a young person caught
between two cultures. Any recommendations?
