My eighth grade English teachers are looking for some teaching ideas to accompany the reading of Steinbeck's The Pearl. Does anyone have some ideas ? We thought of preparing the students before they read it by doing research on the setting but I can find very little about La Paz in the early 1920s and even less to help explain to eighth graders the extreme cultural biases. Thanks for any ideas.
