Hello!
Is there anyone out there doing the following?..

a. You have "X" number of computers running on a network. Each of the
computers has a CD-ROM drive.
b. You have a multidisk program such as Proquest or Infotrac (e.g., one
disk for each year). (The program is networkable).
c. You have installed disk one, let's say 1997, in computer 1's CD-ROM
drive; disk 2, [1996], in computer 2's CD-ROM drive, etc.
d. Because the computers are networked, any student at any computer will
be able to disk 1, 2, etc. at the same time.

        (I heard this was true)

Questions:

1. Am I completely off base here, or is this possible?

2. Assuming it's possible, Is there anyone doing this? If so, have you run
into problems? Is there any reason we should not consider doing this?

3. Again assuming this is possible, is there any disadvantage to doing this
as opposed to using a CD-ROM tower (which is certainly more expensive, and
possibly finicky).

4. Is there anyone who has installed multiple CD drives on their
computer(s), let's say two drives on one computer (so, for example, even
if the above didn't work, you could run a two-disk CD-ROM encyclopedia)?
If so, have you had any problems?

Any and all information re: this scenario would be greatly
appreciated!!!!!! TIA.

Subject: TECH: Fortress 101 vs. Foolproof

After the responses I got re: network security, we are now looking into an
additional program for our computer network (Windows 95). The two programs
I have heard about are Fortress 101 and Foolproof.

If you are using one of the above programs on a network, I'd appreciate
your input.

1. Why did you choose one program over the other?
2. Have you had any major problems using your program? Were the problems
easy to fix?
3. If you had to do it all over again, would you still pick the same
program?

Any other tips or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.
