You may remember me asking a few days ago : how to say ONE HUNDRED in different languages. We are going to celebrate the 100th day of school and I would like to make bookmarks for my kids with these words and pronunciations. Can you help my list grow??? And what's going on with Spanish? I have two different answers!! How is the Irish version pronounced? Thanks in advance - you guys are great!! Japanese: hyaku ... (heyah'koo) say the h in he and the y in yah as one sound ... the e in between is barely noticeable... Irish (Gaelic): haon cead. There is an accent mark like the French acute over the e in cead, but I don't know to put in accent marks on this keyboard. Spanish: cien (thi - EN) Spanish: Un ciento Basque: ehun (eh - OON) Hebrew: ma'ah or meya (pronounce: may-ah) German: Hundert (one hundred days = ein hundert Tagen) French: cent Russian: cto (pronounced shto) Czech: sto. Latin: Centum (KEN-TOOM) Portuguese: CEM ("SENG" almost like "SING") Karen DeFrank, Librarian Dorothy L.
