While looking over 2 downloaded MARC records from Bibliofile, I noticed an unusual abbreviation in the 100/d field (dates for author) - "fl." Does anyone know what it stands for? I looked in the glossary of the AACR2 Handbook and found that it stood for "flourish (ing)." Can anyone clarify for me the relevance of the word in such a context? Many thanks in advance! Virginia W.
