First class passengers would have paid over $4,000 for deluxe accommodations,
including a private promenade.

In third class, or steerage, one would be hard pressed to find anyone with an
annual salary over $1,000.  The Titanic was scheduled to leave New York harbor
for her return trip to England on Saturday, April 20th at 12 noon. The third
class rate was
$36.25 to Great Britain..."all passengers berthed in closed rooms containing 2,
4 or 6 berths, a large number equipped with washstands, etc...spacious dining
saloons, smoking room, ladies' reading room, covered promenade..."
