Stylewriter 2400 Problems

Several weeks ago the black ink cartridge in my Color Stylewriter 2400 quit
printing.  I cleaned the print heads but after one page, the printer ran OK
but no ink on the page.  I didn't think it had been that long since I had
changed the cartridge but knowing I had been out of the country for two
weeks and the printer had not be used, I changed the cartridge thinking the
ink had run out.

Since then printing has stopped twice.  The other day I printed a letter
and seeing a mistake in it, went to re-print and no ink.  When I cleaned
the print head everything was OK.  This is the second time that this has
happened in the short time that I have had the new cartridge.

I called the company that has my warranty and was told that possibly the
little hose that delivers the ink to the paper has stopped up.  This would
cause a smaller hole for the ink to go through promoting buildup.  However,
cleaning the print heads produces good quality print.  I was wondering if I
had just picked up a bad cartridge; however at the price of these
cartridges I hate to just throw it away.  I am using a Canon cartridge
because the Apple cartridges are hard to find but I have used Canon in my
Stylewriter II at school for several years without any problems.

The only thing that I think could have caused this problem is that I used
paper specifically designed for inkjet printers briefly.  I had not had
this problem before using this type of paper and I'm using the paper now at
school without problems.  I have gone back to regular copy paper at home
but have had one stop up even with the regular copy paper.

If anyone has any advice on this please let me know.
