GEN: Titles of 2 books

A fifth grade teacher in my building has been trying unsuccessfully to
identify 2 books that were read aloud to her in elementary school.  She
would now like to share them with her students - if we can identify them!
PLEASE RESPOND TO MY SCHOOL ADDRESS, LISTED IN MY SIGNATURE.    I'm having

        1.  A story about 2 boys who go off on a hiking trip through the
woods in search of Bigfoot.

        2.  A story about a girl named Lucinda whose parents have abandoned
her and her siblings. They are bothered by bullies, so she runs away to a
cemetery where she becomes fascinated by a statue.
