Dear colleagues: Have any of you ever had to publicize a conference to the media? I am helping to handle the publicity for our state conference this spring (SLMS) to be held in Buffalo, New York. I am comfortable handling the publicity for ourselves, the librarians. I would like local media attention given to this conference from the newspaper and television stations highlighting not only the conference but also the importance of libraries in general and school libraries in particular. Last fall's state conference held here generated two news stories discussing computers/technology in education. Two of our media celebrities, a political cartoonist and a television newscaster, are presenting at our conference. Any articles, press releases, and hints to garner media attention you are willing to share would be gratefully accepted and I will post a hit if there is interest. TIA.
