Hello Fellow Listserv Members, Gosh, we are having some bad days regarding vendor calls! Let me preface my statements with I agree that receiving cold calls from vendors * on some days * are about as welcome as the stomach flu. However, I have to say that for the most part I have excellent rapport with vendors. I go to a lot of conferences (which means my cards are passed around) and even though I have the potential to receive many cold calls, I don't. Vendors know when someone is truly interested in a product and they will pursue them since that's their job. If I tell vendors I am not interested, they don't call me. I have found that being nice to vendors has many rewards. Special visits to your school when needed, a quiet lunch in a nice restaurant to discuss their product, ADDITIONAL DISCOUNTS on their products, FREE products, invitations to special events at conferences. In today's world where many service companies act like they not only deserve your money but can treat you poorly on top of it, these nice vendors are welcome in my world.
