bar code label goo

Hello,
  I hope someone can advise me.  I had put bar code labels on library cds,
thinking they should be placed on the item, rather than on the container.
Anyway, I'm told that will cause them to spin in an unbalanced way and
eventually ruin the drive.  So can anyone advise on what to use to remove the
stickiness from the cd after I remove the bar code labels?  Thank you.
