      I picked this 1974 Newbery off my shelf during inventory
because it looked like an interesting historical fiction.   The book
starts out slow as one gets comfortable with the characters but it
descends into a whirlwind.  A young girl is sent to a castle and
notices strange things happening.  She gets involved in a conspiracy
which protects of group of Druids living underground.  The story
contains magic, folklore, character development, a love story plus so
much more.
     This 280 page book would take some selling but one the reader
gets by the slow part in the front, they will thoroughly enjoy it.
