I, too, have found teachers are not too interested when they discover laser discs are not like videotapes--put it in and push play. I saw a great idea at a vendor display. The concept was to make an independent learning center. The example was a disc on the human body. The barcodes had been copied, cut out and glued on a cardboard skeleton (the kind you see at halloween). When the students scanned a body part, they viewed the pertinent section of the disc. I think she also had a crossword puzzle with barcodes again copied beside the clues to lead students to the appropriate section of the disc for the answers. When you think in terms of the learning center approach and copying/pasting the barcodes, this opens up lots of possibilities. Because they loved it and repeated it so often, the students learned the material quite well. This would be useful in a classroom or library. ******************************************************* Susan Carter Librarian, Walker Elementary Northport, AL 35475 sscarter@dbtech.net =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST * NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
