a LM_NEtter jsut wrote to me about the impact of grad standards etc on media/tech. I can only say that the impact is phenomenal! Our print circulation is up even though we are very rich in technology resources; the media center, it's lab and all our other labs are constnatly scheduled. As of now there are activities scheduled in the media center and labs through May of 1999. (I'm not exagerating) and most of it is grad standards based. Media spec. are more involved in curriuclum planning, etc, etc. There is a greater need for technology. What is most rewarding is that the teachers are recognizing the need for resources, media specialist, colalboration etc etc, etc I've always believed strongly in our curriculum and staff development roles and this is giving it all more credibility. One key thing is for the media specialist to welcome this activity and for the media specialist to be proactive in curriculum involvement. Teachers want and need help. I'm not just speaking from my work at wms; I've done training throughout the state and teachers all over want this. I could go on and on. . . . .
