TARGET> California/Western states author/storyteller visits

Western Netters:

I'm working with the teachers on next year's school plan (our group is
preparing the Language Arts section) at my K - 8 school, and my idea of
inviting a visiting author or storyteller was well received by them.

Since funds are limited, we would prefer recommendations on authors from
California or western states (to avoid a lot of travel expenses).

I will post a "hit" so please respond with:
1. Author's name
2. Why you are recommending
3. What age range author appeals to
4. How to contact
