The Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA) in conjunction with the
Georgia  State Department of Education has planned a joint venture
designed to
1. Create a leadership base for the continuance of quality media services
to support instruction
2. Create a scope and sequence of information literacy skills based on
Georgia's new Quality Core Curriculum (QCC) content standards.

This grass-roots effort will require the assistance of school library
media specialists across the state.  To begin the process, a Summer
Leadership  Workshop will be held on July 13-15, 1998, at the Comfort Inn
North (2690 Riverside Drive, phone# 912-746-8855) in Macon, Georgia. The
opening session will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13.

The rooms are $54 (queen w/sleeper sofa)  and $59 (double) a night.
Registration to cover the cost of the workshop is $40.

This is a labor of love and determination!  Please join us as we move our
focus beyond the school-level issues to establish statewide benchmarks for
quality media services. This will be a true workshop, so dress casually
and if you can, bring your laptops and copies of the QCC.  Come prepared
to consult, collaborate and create.
