I want to thank everyone who responded to my request for help. I was able to get into the library today, even though we don't have electricity yet. The damage is not quite as bad as I had feared. It mostly damaged one section of biographies, some encyclopedia sets (thought not the newest ones) and other odds and ends in the reference section. The paperbacks may be the biggest problem. I have many and I have to go through them yet. The carpeting is totally soaked and will probably need to be replaced. We're awaiting word on the computers which have been put out in the sun to dry. Our new furniture looks okay. We're grateful it wasn't a lot worse. On the up side, I learned about the Northeast Document Conservation Center, which has a web site with lots of good advice available for downloading, http://www.nedcc.org/mold.htm This leads to a paper about protecting books from mold. And I'm going to try cat litter for some of the books that are just slightly damp and might be hard to replace. Thanks again. This group is great.
