Nancy, and all, you didn't get the 'candy' message from lm_net. I
went to the message and looked at the complete headers. There is
**NO** link to syr.edu or lm_net. Good possiblities for origin are
hotmail.com, vicon.net, or uu.net.

While the senders probably swept our addresses from the archives or
dejavu, we all got the mail from their own distribution list, not our
own lm_net. It's not a good idea to 'reply' to this stuff to remove
your name and address, since that just gives them a confirmation of a
good address and you'll get put on the 'good' list.

Either just delete the message, or send a copy of the message with
the complete headers to either 'abuse@xxx.xxx' or
'postmaster@xxx.xxx' with your complaint. The people who run the
email services take this stuff seriously, but they usually only know
about abuses after a complaint.

To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to
listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER:
 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST
  * NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
