Well, group, there is a position just opening in the Houston Independent
School District for Manager of Library Services. (This is actually the
director but lots of central office job titles were reclassified a while
back)

The manager is responsible for planning, administering, and supporting
the district wide program of library services.Houston is the largest
school district in the state, and the 7th largest in the US. There are
260 + schools and 238 librarians in our district, with 4 Library
Supervisors - 3 going to schools to provide support, planning inservices
and materials for libraries, and running an alternative certification
program. The fourth library supervisor is responsible for the
Professional Library.

The salary range is $40,700-64,700; they prefer a doctorate and library
science certification (!). A Mid Management certificate is required. We
are not yet fully automated.

Houston is a great town, and we have not had a librarian at the helm of
library services since 1977, and it is time to have a super librarian
running things again.

or two page resume with Social Security number, home and work telephone

1998.
