We found that out the hard way when we attempted to deny a parent access to what books their kid had checked out currently. We don't maintain historical records, but the parent wanted to know what the kid had out AT THAT MOMENT. We declined, citing the library priacy acts. The principal made us document the law, so we contacted ALA and the atate attorney general. Both agreed that the federal Family Records Act supercedes the library laws when it comes to students enrolled in schools which receive ANY federal money.
