Can't remember if this issue was resolved, but someone was trying to find out the name of the genre of a what-if historical event, such as Japan winning WWII. It is called "counterfactuals." In the 10th anniversary issue of "MHQ: The Quarterly Journal of Military History," 36 historians each wrote about historical events and how things would be different today if the outcome of the event had changed. Interesting reading for those interested in the subject. *************************************************** Ralph Kaplan kaplr@ils.unc.edu School of Information and Library Science University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill *************************************************** =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
