We all know how important the e-rate funding is to our students and their need for a networked, technology-rich environment. Our schools benefit from these dollars. Those of us in poor and less affluent areas are very dependent upon them. You've read the posting here on LM_NET and perhaps from ALAWON (http://www.ala.org/washoff/) re. the discussions that may lead to a new bill this week that would lower the cap on the e-rate funds *this year* from the original 2.25 billion dollars down to the currently collected 625 million dollars. I know South Carolina children can't afford this! I encourage everyone to speak up now before it's too late. Senators Hollings (D-SC) and Stevens (R-AK) have been associated with the rumor.
