Hello - Several days ago our principal explained that "when he was in California", the LMS and the two aides (in a school of 3,000) stored all of the school's textbooks in a space near the LMC and during the first week of school, the LMC would be closed and all the classes in the school would be routed through the library from whence they would receive and check out their textbooks. The "transaction" was stored in the school computer system, and when it came time for a student to meet his/her financial obligations, the "charges" for lost books would be consolidated. He said he wanted to insitute such a "service" here. Would I be willing? Well...I guess if you think of the library as a book warehouse... (how does one make a "tongue in cheek" smiley?) but of course I couldn't say what I was REALLY thinking, especially since he's been pretty supportive of the Library, so I said I'd check with other LMS's and see if? how? why? etc. this might be done. Anyone out there do this? Pros? Cons? TIA for any responses.
