With the month of April coming up, does anyone have any ideas to use with high school students to celebrate National Poetry Month? We recently received the poster from the American Academy of Poets (?): they also sent a "tips" list for librarians and teachers, which described successful library activities (which took place in public libraries). Ideas I've already gotten from LM_NET and/or our English dept: 1. putting poems (at random) in teachers' mailboxes throughout the month 2. having students make posters which illustrate poems 3. having principal or someone else read a poem over P.A. system each morning 4. running a poetry contest Is there anyone who (1) has a tried and true idea that he or she'd like to share or, (2)has a new idea to try for next month? Thanks in advance.
