Well said, and much appreciated. For whatever it is worth, I have tried for a long time and with increasing care over the last decade-plus to use gender-neutral wording -- but to do so in a grammatically correct and stylistically appropriate fashion. (I have been writing professionally, though not mostly for publication, for mumble-mumble years.) Sometimes it is a tough juggling act, but one tries.
