Dear LM_NET Users: I would like to clarify that Athena is designed to run on a Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11 (Windows for Workgroups), Windows 95 and Windows NT workstations. All of the above can be used for cataloging, searching, inventory, circulation and other library functions. To use Athena in a multi user environment the system requirements clearly state that Novell 3.1x, Novell 4.x, Windows NT Workstation (small networks) or Windows NT Server is required for the file server. We have found that networks using Windows 95, Windows 3.11, LANtastic and other peer to peer network software as the file server are adequate for small office networks only. Peer to peer networking software does not meet the performance demands of modern library installations. If you would like further information regarding this or other automation issues, please send your request to the sales or support email address below.
