I need help with the issue of overdues in the elementary library. 1. does anyone charge fines - we don't 2. how is it handled at the end of the year? - pay for the book? 3. how often are student notices given out? 4. how often are parent notices mailed home? What kinds of incentives are used to get books back? rewards? chart with number of overdues per classroom? I am a school district librarian, with 3 buildings to supervise. And I have always had a terrible time in the elementary scene. We change principals every two years, also..so have no consistency with their support either. I have a chance to have a fresh start with a new library aide that will follow through with a policy and procedure, if indeed, we can figure out what will work best with this age group. ANy help will be vastly appreciated. I know there are tons of you who have been at this far longer and more successfully than I. Thanks in advance.
