As people wrote their wishlists for magazines and books, I thought of
Empowered, a magazine for teenage girls that doesn't focus on fashion and
glamour.

Sadly, we received a postcard from them this winter saying that things are
"going well for them in every way ... except financially" and that they
were uncertain when the next issue would be published.
