I would like to find out how other LM_NET'ers school libraries are staffed
and how responisibilities are divided up between staff members. __I'm
particularly interested to know if anyone has a Teaching Assistant working
with them and what responsibilities the TA has.__ If actual job descriptions
are available they would be welcomed. Please send your replies to me at
batoumba@northnet.org and I will post a HIT. Thank you for your time!

Here's a little about my school... I work at a high school with about 1200
students 9-12. We have:
1. A full-time Library Media Specialist (me),
2. A Technology Teaching Assistant who is responsible for overseeing and
assisting students in our open computer lab (part of the LMC), handling (or
referring to a district-level person) all computer-related teacher requests
(e.g. troubleshooting problems, loading software, arranging for repairs,
etc.) and perfoming the network system backups.
3. Two Library Aides (one full-time, one part-time) responsibilities
include: budget tasks (keeping track of and preparing requisitions and
purchase orders), interlibrary loan, overseeing and assisting students in the
LMC (using photocopier, microfilm, searching for a book, etc.), processing
new materials, AV equipment loan (delivering TVs, handling reservations),
BOCES loans (AV materials), assisting me in preparing for class use
of LMC (e.g. finding resources that will help students, copying,
making overhead transparencies), creating and distributing overdue notices,
performing Follett system back-ups, keeping LMC use statistics, creating
computer forms and templates etc.....
