We have just installed the Internet on our NT network, after many setbacks and frustrations. There a a few problems which no one here seems able to solve and would appreciate it very much if anyone could advise or suggest an email of someone who could help. We are running a Windows NT Network (NT server 4 and NT workstation 4). There are 520 pupils registered on the network, plus staff and there are 25 work stations. We could use either Internet Explorer or Netscape as a browser. We want to know how we can have a web browser and email client on each work station for pupil use, but to restrict them from saving their own email addresses and bookmarks on the local drive of each machine. We wish to prevent pupils from viewing each others (or staff members) email addresses. The option with bookmarks would be to have one set for all to use or to allow each pupil to have their own private individual bookmarks. We need to either block this facility or to let them save them into their own areas. They all log on as individual users and have space allocated to them on the file server. Each pupil may well use a different work station each time they come into the centre. ---- Peta Ward Librarian Hilton College Library, Private Bag 6001 Hilton, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa Tel: +27 331 430100 Fax: +27 331 430080 petaw@iafrica.com http://www.hilton.kzn.school.za =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
