Thanks to those of you who were able to give information concerning these two magazines. I had some requests for a hit, so here it is. ------------ In my classroom days I taught 7-8 Language Arts. Scope magazine was a wonderful part of our experiences in several settings. I am not sure, but think Action is for younger readers. I used Scope also with 9th+ reluctant readers and the interest level was still there...I have always had good results with Scholastic periodicals. Give them a try...do they have a trial subscription? ------------ Cyndi : I think these are from Scholastic. You can get classroom sets with free teacher's guide or order single copies (much more expensive) Hope this helps. ------------ I ordered Action for my language arts students - middle school. The short plays were particularly poor.... even the kids could recognize that. They were handy for leaving for subs if I had a meeting, but I was not very impressed with the quality. ------------ I *think* Scholastic will send you sample copies if you ask :) ------------ When I was a seventh grade English teacher I used Scope magazine. The best part of the magazine was the plays which were included each week. If they were of high interest, the students really enjoyed using them. There was another magazine I used put out by the same company that had a little higher reading level. I believe Action was for younger students. ------------ I know the language arts teachers at my school have used Scope for many many years--they even save issues and reuse them. They were lost when the subscription was cut for a year or two because of money.
