LM_NET 11/20/98: No Subject

I have been helping a Math teacher with a project involving African
American inventors and scientists.  We have the fairly standard list of
historical figures collected from several sources.  They are all, however,
"historical" figures.  From a search in Current Biography we found Mae
Jemison and (forgot first name) Sullivan (in President Bush's cabinet).
The magazine and newspaper index that we have again give names of
historical figures.

Surely there are some current African American Inventors and Scientists.
Can any LM_NETers provide some names?

Lm_netters,

Our district server has been down since I first sent my request.  Sorry if you
could not get through.  I think the problem has been fixed, so I will post it
again.

If you are currently  automated, do you take inventory every year?  We are
beginning to automate a few schools at a time and we are wondering if we
should continue each year or do it only every five years as our the public
library has been doing.

Thank you for your patience.  One of my first grade teachers came to me
yesterday to tell me she missed the things I forwarded to her from the list.
She sends her thanks to all of you , too.
