I requested help on offering a bookfair to a small high school student population and here are the results. Scholastic received the most votes Troll, Pages (formerly School Book Fairs), Creative Books Fairs each got the same number of votes (one person had a BAD experience with Pages; mentioned poor service, poor selection, books in poor condition) Not so fun points about a high school fair: a. sales low b. profit low c. theft high (I appreciated being alerted to some of the :( points. I need to be aware of those as well as the :) points!) Several comments regarding Scholastic: - 25-30% profit - good selection of gift books and paperbacks - works with school on scheduling - although it offers a small high school selection, other companies offer a high school selection which is too juvenile. - request the full k-12 set; this increases sales because teachers & other adults will purchase for grandchildren, etc. Comments regarding Troll: - great incentives - one stated that the selection was reasonable / another said it was high quality - generous with free books to school - can earn as much as 45% profit One summarized with "For $$$ go with Troll; for quality, go with Scholastic." Thank you to those who took the time to provide input. I needed guidance and you were a help.
