I apologize for the format on the hit I sent earlier--I thought I better send it again. Check: http://www.wcsu.k12.vt.us/~wardsboro/lists.htm#Values Power Kids Press, a division of Rosen Publishing has a number of titles which might work for you. Pendleton Elementary School has a list of books that tie in with their "Core Ethical Values". Lisa Jessup, Library Clerk, will mail you a copy if you E-Mail her at pendleton@home.com Consider "Honus and Me" by Gutman. In it a young boy has to decide whether or not to give a valuable baseball card back to the old woman whose attic he found it in. This site offers a character education reading list for grades K-5. http://www.kyrene.k12.az.us/schools/mirada/READLST.HTM Our school runs a program called "Tools for Life's Challenges" and we focus on a number of the same topics. Even though they are geared to younger readers our upper level teachers use the "Little Bill" series by Bill Cosby just to get the students thinking and talking about these subjects. I just got some video tapes to look over from a company in Texas. I think it's called Nest. Each tape is a biography and each biography emphasizes a particular character trait. A good title for responsibility might be "On Your Honor" by Bauer; one for healthful lifestyle might be "Mick Harte Was Here" by Park.
