Tech: Mac-Print Shop & HP printer problem

I have just purchased Print Shop and it will not work with my DeskJet 855C
printer  unless I disable QuickDraw GX and restart the computer.

I did that and installed the non GX driver and uninstalled the regular
drivers & fonts. Then I selected the new printer in the chooser, but the
Mac did not recognize it.

Can anyone help? HP wants to charge me $25 for a call!
