Thanks to all who contributed to this hit: Patricia Wilson, Roberta Ricci, Judy Smith, Dale Copps, Gayle Hodur, Margaret Hunt, Joan Kimball, and Leigh Smothers. The Eyewitness series and the National Geographic Kids Video series. Not to forget the Magic Schoolbus series The RAINBOW videos are excellent. They are usually about 20 minutes long and cover many different topics. They are somewhat expensive (approx. $100 per video), but well worth it. I also like the EYEWITNESS videos (approx. $25) good for grades 3+. Any of the Eyewitness series from Dorling Kindersley, National Geographic school videos, many of the Reading Rainbow series, Discovery Channel School videos. Eyewitness puts out several fine series of nonfiction videos for $12.95 each. Our teachers like the Really Wild Animals series My teachers were thrilled with the See How They Grow Videos (No Yucky stuff) and the National Geographic Wild Animal Series for children. I have found the grade 2-3 teachers really like the series from National Geographic called Really Wild Animals. They are divided into habitats or geographical areas, mostly. So far I can esp. recommend Deep Sea Dive, Polar Prowl and Totally Tropical Rain Forest. Reasonably priced at 15.00, too. I like Eyewitness Videos for animals. For historical figures, inventors, etc. try the American Hero Classics from Nest. Each video comes with an educational workbook and the stories fit in with character trait curriculum. Titles include: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Alexander Graham Bell, Marie Curie, Galieo, Harriet Tubman, etc. Character traits included are: Persistance, Leadership, Caring, Integrity, Patience, etc. Donna Dix <ddix@gate.net> Media specialist substitute Tampa, FL =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST * NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
